Sexuality is a broad spectrum. It isn’t easy for people to understand their sexuality in a society where men and women marrying each other is the norm. Taboo makes it more difficult. The social stigma surrounding labels it as humiliation, a form of insult. Even if it becomes more accepted, it’s not as simple as being ‘gay’ or ‘straight’. Here’s how you can understand your sexuality:

Questions you should ask yourself if you’re confused about your sexual orientation
It doesn’t necessarily have to mean you’re gay if you’re questioning yourself about it. It also doesn’t mean that you aren’t. I have faced a time where I would ask myself if I was completely and a hundred per cent heterosexual even though I had only dated men until then. Here are the questions you should ask yourself –
Write down the answers on a piece of paper and refer to the list above.
- Do I see myself going down on someone who is the same sex as I am?
- Can I imagine myself going on a date with someone who is the same sex as I am?
- Do I see myself having sex with/fucking someone who is the same sex as I am?
- Am I being influenced by the growing acceptance of LGBTQIA+?
