7 Reasons For Hair Loss In Men In Their 20s

Losing hair is not a big deal since our body ages every second. What is abnormal is to lose hair at a very fast pace. While losing 50 to 100 hairs per day is pretty normal for a man to shed his hair, as says Dr. Robert Glatter, MD, but losing hair in the shower, on the pillow and especially when your hairline is not receding (a common sign for gradual hair loss for men) then it is a matter of concern. Hair loss can hit any man at any age. While 50 years of age is considered normal for hair loss, while hair loss in men in their 20s is not. This could very well mean that genetic factors are involved in such a mishappening, and this is also the number 1 in our list of why you might be losing your hair before time.

1. Heredity

If you come from a family where losing hair at a certain age was normal then it could mean that you might be affected by the same genes that exist in your body. Hair loss can be caused due to heredity and that is one thing that people should keep in mind.

2. Dyeing your hair

Greys are not a pretty sight for many and this is another topic to discuss, however, to hide those greys by dyeing might not be a great idea as you might think. About 7% of men color their hair, according to 2012 marketing research firm data. Hair Dyeing has been related to hair loss mainly because it consists of chemicals such as paraphenylenediamine.

Though it is rare this could become a bane for your hair follicles and they might begin to lose their strength over time.

3. Dandruff

When the scalp begins to shed its skin the white flakes a.k.a. dandruff deposits around the shoulder and at the roots of the hair. About 40% of men have dandruff. This might cause fluctuations in the hormonal balance and even cause the scalp to produce excessive oils or sebum in the skin. The problem is easily treatable and one could see the hair growth coming back to normal in a matter of 8 months or so.

4. Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a long-lasting autoimmune disease characterized by patches of abnormal skin. If the flaky part is removed this may lead to bleeding. The itching that is caused by this disease tempts the person to scratch the surface which results in the breakage of hair. Keep the infected skin cool with an ice pack might help to better the situation and also limited use of hair dryer is advisable. Specially medicated shampoos and conditioners can help too. A doctor would help to deal with psoriasis and potentially undo the harm done.
