Let’s admit it that dating now and dating in the yesteryears had their ups and downs. And you can ask anyone about your parent’s age what it felt like to be dating then. But are all the old-school dating hacks a myth?
Maybe some of them should remain the preserved remains in the history of human courtship, but there are real gems in there.
1. Punctuality
A punctual person is someone who will not take you and your time and your patience for granted. If someone makes you wait on your first date, it is a huge red flag. Unless they have a pretty good and genuine and believable explanation for the same.
2. Locking the first impression
I am proud to admit that my generation is the most chilled one you’ll ever see. And that’s good, in some situations. But if you’re going to score a forever-relationship then chances are your date might not appreciate sweatpants and t-shirts from Jockey. Woo your date in a classy attire and a musky smell (that isn’t your sweat).
3. Be the gentleman your mama raised you to be
Chivalry can be considered sexist now but twenty years and before, it was what defined courtship periods then. From pulling the chair out for them to opening the door for them to enter/exit before you, it sets the mood for the date.
4. Pay attention
You don’t want to seem like an a-hole if you keep using I’s and me’s and my’s in your sentences. Be quiet for a while and listen to your date. Ask each other questions if they aren’t much of a talker. But tuning out on the first date is disrespectful.
5. Respect them
Last but not least, respect the person sitting opposite you. Despite the fact, their political and social views might not match yours, you cannot mock them for it. Respect them as a human being, as your equal.
